Jesus begins his ministry with the announcement of his mission. Right from the beginning he is aware of the mission given to him by the father. There is liberation for the oppressed and good news to the poor. Jesus is here to give a new sight to see what is important in life – the values of the kingdom of God. With Jesus the messianic time promised by Isaiah has come into a reality. We are supposed to live in that ‘today’ announced by Jesus. But are we still feeling captive of some evil addictions, blind to see the meanings of life, and oppressed by the burdens of sin and guilt? Many young people have become addicts to drugs, pornography, and choose the path of violence. The world is still in need of the liberation proclaimed by Jesus. The believers who experienced the true freedom in their life should lead others in captivity to Jesus who alone can give the true freedom.
